There is also an old apple garden; a great number of exotic plants, 125 kinds of moss, 90 birds’ and animals’ species affect in the park. Kuntsevskoe settlement (“A Cursed Place”) is one of the most ancient fortifications within Moscow and it is one of the main attractions of the park. There have remained earthworks, a picket fence fortification system, remains of settlements and villages and other earlier occupation layers (the 4th-5th centuries B.C. – the 7th-8th centuries A.D.). Tools for casting, metal jewels, and ivories were discovered in the territory of the settlement. The Protection of the Virgin in the Settlement church was situated there in the 13th-16th centuries. The settlement was sacked in the time of troubles (1584-1613).
