One of the largest natural history museums Paleontologic museum named after Yu. A. Orlov, was developed from Kunstcamera, founded by emperor Peter I. Among other raritets there were teeth and bones of pre-historic animals.
The exhibition, placed in 6 halls of the museum, tells the story about the life evolution on the Earth. The unique museum complex doesn\'t look like any building in the world. Red brick hotel resembles an ancientfortress with the inner yard surrounded by four exhibition areas with four towers.
The first hall gives the introduction to the paleontology as a science. The second hall leads the visitors to pre Cambrian Period, early Paleozoic Era and expose the early forms of life on the Earth. The exhibition demonstrates the primitive animals and tells about the firther ways of their evolution. The fourth hall is devoted to the late Paleozoic period when the real animals appeared.
The most popularity gained the fifth hall called "Mesozoic Era", where the dinosaurs are exposed. You can see a great number of skeletons of extinct species. The last sixth hall demonstarate various mammals and fauna of Kainozoic. practically all the museum exhibits are real or restored.
The third hall expose the species of plants and animals inhabited Moscow region. About 300 million years ago there was a warm sea on the place of this modern megapolis.
