The saviors of Europe - Greeting Hill, the Victorial Memorial

VICTORY PARK contains memorials to two Patriotic Wars: in 1812 and 1941-5. In 1983 the Politburo gave its approval to a design by Nikolai Tomskiy that involved levelling the Poklonnaya gora (Heel of greetings). The park itself is laid out around a grand fountain-lined axis culminating in the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War.
